ETERNAL RELATIONSHIPS

by Jeffrey Hilton

The world of dating is so frustrating and stressful that many who finally get a relationship never want to face it again. Even if they know the relationship isn’t going to work they will stay in it so that they won’t be expected to find someone new. They might even convince themselves they have found the person they will marry if it means they don’t have to face the process of finding someone more compatible. They may tell themselves any two righteous people can have a successful marriage. Yet that advice was intended for those who are already married.

For many if they ever find a relationship they assume the Lord wants them to marry that person. It might be their first relationship but they see the fact that they found a relationship as a sign.

Today whether you are the star athlete or a beauty queen it isn’t any easier to find a relationship. So if you aren’t the star athlete or a beauty queen you may wonder if you will ever have a relationship. So once a relationship is found it is like a get out of jail free card.

Ironically by being in a relationship you know isn’t working you are missing out on finding someone more compatible. Perhaps someone compatible with you is unavailable because they are in a relationship they know isn’t working. The difficult part is when you leave a relationship you know isn’t working. Making yourself available doesn’t seem to guarantee another relationship any time soon. The more time that passes the more you wonder if another relationship will come. If we can all have the courage to end relationships that aren’t working we will be available when another opportunity presents itself. The greater the number of people who end their relationships the greater the chance of everyone finding someone better.
