Touring Egypt And Germany!
It's been over a month, but I'm happy to add Africa to the map section and 19 new photos! This includes shots taken in Amsterdam, the Pyramids near Cairo, and views of the total eclipse on Trotter's activation day, March 29th!
I've also redone a few of the maps for Germany( state borders ) and have added a light gray around the map area I want to focus on for each region. I'll be modifying the other region maps this way in the future.
I'm waiting for confirmation that Trotter arrived safely in Finland. From there, current plans in the works could take Trotter to visit Yellowstone National Park in the USA, and/or a possibly return trip to another part of Africa!
The next addition for this summer will include a "Store" section. I have a few items in the works I'm putting together. More details to follow soon. I'm using a different computer for this upload until I eliminate some spyware on my primary computer that has delayed this update a bit. Have a VCS day™!
Happy Third Birthday, Trotter!
Yup, It's been three years already since Trotter was first activated. Eight months later, he launched his World Tour from Orem, Utah, USA. A few quick numbers: In two plus years, Trotter has been hosted 48 times, set down on 4 continents, visited 15 nations( including USA ), been present at 9 video gaming gatherings and received 1 award! Not bad for a 3-year-old cartrige designed for a 30-year-old video game console! :-)
The adventure continues! Trotter has decided to put his main goals down in writing so he can stay focused for another year of trotting the globe:
- Make at least one complete circumnavigation around the globe, generally parallel to the Equator (Trotter has come close to this a few times, but then changed direction)
- Make at least one stop on every continent. (Just recently located hosts in South America and Africa. Antarctica may be tricky)
- Make at least one stop in every U.S. State. (Bonus: visit every capital city, plus Puerto Rico and Washington DC)
- Visit as many different countries, territories, and/or islands as he can gain access to.
- Bonus: Launch into space and orbit the Earth a few times. (A cart can dream, can't he? ;-) )
For this update, I've added photos from Freisen, Germany, and flags to the corresponding maps. I've also added hosts representing Mexico, Chile, and South Carolina, and made new entries for the Netherlands, Germany, and Vermont. This means I'll need to make a page for Africa and South America next. I've also added a rough version of a Map Legend page to help people identify the symbols I'm using to track Trotter's path. This page is a WIP and I hope to make it better soon. Also moving to the top of the "To Do" list will be a Links page and an FAQ page to explain what Trotter is all about. Happy Birthday to everybody who shares their day with Trotter! The young one is celebrating with a host who has taken a trip to Egypt! More on that adventure after Trotter gets back to the Netherlands. Happy trails!
Website Relaunched!
Welcome to the new Globetrotter World Tour website!... Finally! :-) Globetrotter, or "Trotter" for short, is making a journey across the world. He's a huge fan of classic gaming and wants to visit as many fellow fans as possible. He especially loves Atari because, after all, he's an Atari cartridge ... personified!
This site has been set up to follow Trotter's travels around the world. The arrow on the map above marks Trottter's current position(as of the last update). Check back regularly for updates of where he's visiting.
Apologies and thanks for your patience in waiting for this update. The new design of the webpage is a WIP. I'll be making changes as time permits, my main focus being on updating the content with new photos, names, etc. I hope to organize it so that minor updates will come weekly, in order to prevent another long delay in new info about Trotter's progress.
I'll be using this "blotter" to post about additions/changes to this website, Trotter's progress, and any ancedotes shared by Trotter's current host. If you have questions or would like to participate, click on the "Contact Us" tab and send me a message! :-)
This site still needs polish, plus I've got more maps and elements to add as time allows. Some things still to do:
- Add Freisen to the Germany Map
- Add the correct "distance traveled" info and spacing on each map page
- Add an "Events" page to include photos from shows and expos
- Contact unconfirmed hosts to get correct name, city, etc. info and update accordingly
- Add a "Store" section for the extra T-shirts I have for sale
- Add an FAQ section for those new to the project
- Overall polish to the site, etc.
